Established in 1998, the Birkenhead Brewery was among the first craft breweries in South Africa. The name is inspired by the famous sinking of the Birkenhead Ship along the coastline nearby. Our beers capture the fierce spirit of South African landscapes and the vibrant characters that inhabit them.
We currently offer six distinct craft brews, along with occasional special releases driven by inspiration. Each of our beers is filtered and pasteurized, ensuring a 9-month shelf life. At Birkenhead Brewery, we take pride in our creativity and quality, with every beer crafted with care, primarily during moonlit hours, by our dedicated team.

MEET OUR HEAD BREWER
The magic behind our beer is our master beer maker, Benson.
Benson has worked at the Birkenhead Brewery since its founding in 1998 and is our longest serving member of staff. He is passionate about brewing and he has spent over 20 years perfecting the brewing process. He now runs the show and proudly and fiercely protects the quality of our beers.
